Camera Fun

Just thought I'd post somewhat of a fun picture of myself. I never sport a Red Lip (although I'd love to, it doesn't compliment my facial shape) but this was during an outtake from a photo shoot! I took it with my phone and then used the "retro cam" app on my iphone. I LOVE using it!

Forever Vintage

Today I decided I wanted to create an outfit from one of my favorite budget friendly stores...yes, Forever 21. Who doesn't love them?! Whether you're an avid shopper or the occasional browser, I'm sure you've left the store with something. I hunted on their website through mostly their new stuff, to create a fun "Vintage Inspired" outfit! Although none of this is technically vintage, it replicates a vintage look beautifully and that's all that matters! AND the outfit as a whole is all under $75!! I just might have to buy this =) A perfect outfit to welcome Spring for sure.

Vintage Red Riding Hood

I came across a blog I loved and decided why not feature it?! Stephanie, of 'Baubles Bangles and Beads' www.baublesandbangles.blogspot.com is an awesome fashionista who sells many vintage items on ebay and etsy. Shoes, coats, dresses, jewelry, you name it! The best part is, she models them for the viewers! She always makes the outfit look fantastic, one of the many reasons you shouldn't hesitate to purchase something you see, they go quick!

One of her most recent post, and probably one of my favorites, is of her in an absolutely stunning Red Vintage Wool Cape. The Color and shape are very becoming. This is a piece one will have forever. The hat, gloves and purse are also Vintage and the boots are Stuart Weitzman. I'm sure these items will go fast! (the boots already have!)

~Red Carpet Vintage!~

Award shows are the BEST time to watch celebrities strut their stuff in the most fabulous dresses known to man! To some, it's more important than the actual award ceremony. What will they wear?, who will they wear? and how will they wear their outfits is the question among many fashionistas out there!

I decided to post about a few of the vintage & vintage inspired dresses that walked the carpet last night. From Sandra Bullock to Michelle Williams, they pulled off a great classic look for such a prestigious event. From (L 2 R) Florence Welch is wearing vintage Valentino. I saw that she was shunned by a few critics for this look, but I think she pulls it off well. Michelle Williams wears a "vintage inspired" Chanel gown. It's breathtaking. The way it hugs her body and moves when she walked was effortlessly chic. Paired with her platinum blonde pixie haircut, this look will never be 'out of style'. Resse Witherspoons dress was a more "retro" 60's style dress by Armani 'Prive' and she pulled it off with her hairstyle reminiscent of the era. You can never go wrong with a black and white dress!! Sandra Bullock was as glowing as ever despite her recent publicized events. She looked stunning in a beautifully cut Vera Wang red dress.

Polka dots, Stripes and Sun! oh my!

So Spring is "just around the corner". It's hard to believe that when It's 25 degrees outside and I can see snow on the ground, BUT, it is just around the corner! According to fashion it's been out since the end of January, as the coats are now on sale and the pastels and tanks are already on the shelf. This gives us girls hope that we can soon wear our bathing suits and get some much needed Vitamin D. What bathing suit are you going to wear this Spring/Summer? Why not change things up a bit this year and go for a classic vintage look?! Thankfully vintage swimsuits now a days are modernized and more inspired by vintage. As cute as these girls looked in the 50's and 60's, their suits look more like dresses and rompers.

This Red Polka dotted suit from www.ModCloth.com (top) is a great find! It has the characteristics of a 1950's swim suit with the polka dots, bright red color and halter design. Pair it with these 1960's vintage bangle bracelets from etsy http://www.etsy.com/listing/67373368/1960s-vintage-lucite-glowing-red-bangle , a straw sun hat and some cat eye sunglasses (UrbanOutfitters.com) and you're ready to go!!!

The Black, turquoise and white suit by Betsey Johnson (bottom) is an even more modernized look as it's a 2 piece bikini. Personally this is my favorite!! It's sexy yet classy and cute. The bows are probably the accent of the design I like the most! Pair with the Armani Exchange tote to add a modern twist and you're ready to go! The cat eye sunglasses from urban would also be a great touch =)

What could be more fun than a Vintage Inspired Kitchen!?!?!?

Today I had an itch to look up vintage kitchens online after looking at some "behind the scenes" pictures of my friends new music video. It's retro/vintage/dream inspired and it sparked my interest! Bright colors, intricate details, whimsical decor and a overall girly vibe =)

I simply googled "vintage kitchen" and found a vast amount of inspiring images. Being an Interior Design alum, I'm always drawn to interior spaces and how they are designed. This "Atomic Pink" kitchen caught my eye instantly!!! It has a few different concepts going on here. I'd describe it as Modern Vintage, kind of an oxymoron, but it works!

If you took away the pink color of the cabinets and left them wooden or white, took out the vintage chandelier, the lime green accent pieces and the sleek appliances, you would have a country home kitchen! The wooden island and design of the cabinets are very reminiscent of "Country style kitchens". Isn't it crazy what some color and accessories can do to a space?! Pretty awesome if you ask me. I'd actually cook in this kitchen any day.

Clocks....Inspiration is everywhere...

Clock- an instrument used to indicate, keep, and co-ordinate time and is one of the oldest human inventions. The first mercury powered automata clock was invented by Ibn Khalafa al-Muradi between 1280 and 1320. (wiki)

Clocks are looked at multiple times a day by everyone around the world, but how many people really look at them? From tiny clock faces on wrist watches to clocks on the wall or as large and magnificent as the "Big Ben" in London, they really deserve a more in depth look than just 'what time is it?' . The styles, materials, history and intricacies tell a story all in itself.

A friend of mine who is a very talented artist/designer makes her own jewelry and at one time did a 'clock' series that was really popular. It was amazing what she came up with. She found all of these different clock faces at different antique shops and designed and made the jewelry herself.
