Happy Thursday everyone!! I haven't blogged in a little while but I'm back today! I wanted to do a post on a place I'm working/interning at right now. It's called Chic Antique and is located in Chicago. I help manage their blog and would love for you to check out the blog and website!!! We refinish furniture in every way possible from crazy fun colors to distressing and upholstery. It's incredibly fun and rewarding!!! We also off Interior Design services as well!! Here's the blog link http://chicantiquechicago.blogspot.com/ and the website www.chicantiquechicago.com

Here's some pictures of the store and what we've done recently!!!

Front of the beautiful Store!

Beautiful buffet table

This ottoman actually just sold, and the buyer wanted us to make three pillows for it in the same fabric. This is a great example of the upholstery we can do!

Our set of eclectic Owl Lamps...Everyone comments on how much they love them!

We also have vintage jewelry all the time. This weekend we're having a sale on it actually!! 15% off all jewelry and 10% off all dressers!!!!!

You'd be impressed how much we can fit in here!

Follow our blog and friend us on Facebook to find out about the latest pieces we have! They go quick!

Chartreuse Me!~

Chartreuse...the name itself is beautifully elegant. The color is half way between yellow and green, but was actually named after a French liqueur called Green Chartreuse because of the color resemblance.

Whether in decor, fashion or even a car, Chartreuse always lifts my mood and makes me smile! While best used minimally, as a 'pop' color, there's nothing wrong with going Chartreuse crazy!

Some fun images I found:

That's what I call chartreuse crazy! But i love it!

Tamed down a bit, just the drapes and chair, but what a great touch!

What an impact this sofa makes in a mostly neutral room. I want!

My two favorite things combined into one! A Mini Cooper in a lovely Chartreuse. The picture doesn't do it justice, but I have seen this color on a Mini in person and it was love at first sight.

So sharp and chic this image is of these two men with chartreuse shoes and belt. It's crazy how much a color can change an outfit! How different would this outfit be if the shoes and belt were brown? I love this.

Add a bag this bold to any outfit to instantly spice it up.

One of my biggest weakness's....SHOES....and in my favorite color?! Louboutin knows what's up.

I've definitely rocked these nails a time or two!~ Not everyone gets it, but that makes it even more fun.

EDIE SEDGWICK

There's so much to say about Edie Sedgwick. The good, the bad, the in between, why she rebelled, how it molded who she was and how it took her life in the end....the more I know about her the more I understand, which is ultimately the truth about everyone.

She has a plethora of quotes, but this is one of my favorites that I think describes her in a nutshell.

"I Cut all my hair off, my long dark hair, cut it off and strip it silver and blond. All these little manoeuvres I did out of things that were happening in my life that upset me.I’d freak out in a very physical way, and...it was all taken in a fashion trend."

And here, is my favorite image of Edie Sedgwick. I feel it encompasses her iconic lifestyle with just one click.

Bold Stripes...not just for clothes!~

Stripes are on-trend right now for sure, but not just in the form of clothes!~ Everything from Interiors to accessories are trending with bold stripes. An accessory with a bold stripe can bring an outfit from drab to fab. Here's a few examples I found of great use of stripes!~

Marc by Marc Jacobs Candy Stripe Cocktail Ring

Aldos Shoes "Dyle" Sandal Wedges

Bold Interiors anyone?

The use of bold color in a room with stark white walls is the way to go. Also, if you're using more than one pattern, have them be slightly different so it's not too "match-y match-y". The stripe patterns on the sofa vs. the chair are different enough but similar in color enough, to make it work.

Pops of color were added with the throw pillows, which is the best way to go about it. Along with the stark white walls, the furniture accent pieces are also white and have modern clean lines, letting the fabric stand out instead of competing with intricacies of other pieces.

~First outfit post of April~

Today was a foggy dreary day in Chicago. Unlike a lot of people I love dreary days =) I bought this shirt and cropped sweater yesterday and wanted to sport it today! The sweater is sooo warm since it's made out of wool. I'm counting down the days until I can wear springy rompers, shorts and dresses...I feel that day will never come though...

1. Jacket, TjMaxx 2. "Haley" cropped sweater, Club Monaco 3. "Hazel" shirt, Club Monaco 4. Leggings, TjMaxx 5. Boots, TJMaxx 6. Wrap Bracelets, Club Monaco 7. Jimmy Choo Purse 8. Ring, Vintage

The wrap bracelets are my favorite accessory. I absolutely loveee them. They add glam and sparkle to any outfit!!

~Truly B by Ava Gray~

About 6 months ago I modeled for a clothing designer "Truly B by Ava Gray in NYC and had a blast. It was the second time I'd modeled for them. First I modeled for their Fall 2010 collection, then their Spring 2011 collection! They are a mother daughter team. "Truly B" is the daughters line, she is my age (23) and "Ava Gray" is her moms line, geared more towards 30-50 year olds. They talked to me a lot about the design process and how hectic it is. They said that every time they got a garment back from the seamstress it was not made correctly so it had to be sent back and takes even longer to be made! Sounds stressful. In the end it's all worth it though =) Everything came together beautifully. Here are my favorite images but you can click on the link above to see the lines!
